VANOSS

Hello, My name is Sherryl Akers! This is my 14th  year teaching! 13 of those years have been at Vanoss. I also taught 1 year at Jefferson Early Learning Center in Pauls Valley. I began my career here at Vanoss as a Teacher's Assistant. I have taught Pre-K and Kinderagarten. This year I am excited to add 2nd Grade to my list! I grew up in the Galey area, and attended HS at Latta. I graduated from ECU in 1994 with a degree in Family Consumer Sciences. I am also certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

I am married to Ron Akers,  a HS Math Teacher here at Vanoss, and we have 2 daughters, Kenzie and Kamryn. Kenzie is a Pre-K teacher here at Vanoss. Kamryn is a Sophomore at ECU. Both of our girls are actively involved in shooting sports.

Favorite Foods ~ DR. PEPPER!!!, Catfish, twizzlers, and ANYTHING CHOCOLATE!

Favorite Past time~ Crafts, Cooking, and working with our Cattle

Other Special things about me:

I have a dog that is my baby! Her name is Maggie! 

I love to collect tea cups, humming birds, chickens and antiques!

I am 2015 Vanoss Teacher of the Year, and a 2015 POE Merit Award Finalist!
